Could I name this Ditto? Here's another view of the night visitation of the angel to Mary.  It looks like yesterday's image but is revised in the pose and the angel is a bit more revealed, plus the colors are a deeper blue.

It works that way for me, looking at the story, thinking about it in pictures the narrative good news hovers between several possible images or paintings. Some of the old works of art are not as useful as they were for me --others are still effective and powerful. What rings your bell?

The Annunciation is a creative declaration that God is about to do something new and quite remarkable and it would be a shame to limit that to just one picture, for God here in this story, in these stories, paints for us a new way of looking at the world.

This is a busy time of year and pausing to think about the story with a brush in my hand or pastels on my fingers is a great discipline for me. Each night I''m reworking and starting pieces.  Each session a prayerful surprise!
